migrating to Bahrain for the first time in 2020 made me feel like a stranger in my own land.

living abroad my whole life there was never a feeling of home sickness, because I did not know what home should feel like. my mother, daughter of a fisherman, always said “ stretch your legs as far as your blanket goes.”

never having spent time in Bahrain, it became a place I associated with loss: the death of my father, the turmoil of the Arab Spring and my mother’s second battle with cancer left a mark on my soul.

unraveling my cultural identity, this project explores threads of family, intimacy, masculinity & vulnerability.

sounds of laughter screaming love at the centre of the universe,
home is where I can tame the beast. home is chaos in soft colors.
